As part of our continued commitment to environmental stewardship, the Coldwell Banker Island Properties Foundation successfully completed our second year of beach cleanups at five locations on Maui and the Big Island. With a focus on preserving the natural beauty of our beloved Hawaiian Islands, about 75 agents, staff, and clients united in our mission to protect and restore the coastal areas we cherish so deeply.
On Maui, volunteers gathered at Sugar Beach, Baldwin Beach, and Honolua Bay. Over on the Big Island, our teams worked diligently at Keiki Ponds in Kona and Coconut Island in Hilo. These sites, known for their stunning natural beauty, also face significant environmental challenges due to littering and debris that comes onshore from the ocean.
Approximately 15 to 20 tons of garbage wash ashore in Hawaii each year. This estimate comes from the Hawaii Wildlife Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Hawaii’s native wildlife and ecosystems.
Collectively, our cleanups achieved an incredible result with a couple truckloads of material removed!
The success of this event is a testament to the power of our deep connections within our foundation and the community. The hard work of our volunteers made this series of cleanups a resounding success, demonstrating what can be achieved when we work together for a common cause.
