’Tis the season of giving and there is no better way to end the year than by giving back to the local communities that connect us to our home on Maui.
A trusted realtor is one who participates in the community, who sees themselves as “the neighbor next door”—always willing to give you that cup of sugar when you need it in the middle of a recipe. Without that cup of sugar, your recipe would fail.
Each month, we are committed to supporting a different need and local cause as part of our weekly #AtHomeInHawaii community connection every Saturday morning at the local Ko Mahi’ai Makeke Farmers Market in Kihei, Maui.
For us, Chase Traphagen and Laura Myers, making ourselves available to support local programs and be a neighborhood resource is what brings satisfaction to our work and connects us to this wonderful place we are lucky to call home.
During the farmers market, we are focused on developing relationships with nearby businesses and spreading the word to help them thrive. We are busy building connections with local vendors and regular market-goers who stop to talk story. And we love acting as a neighborhood infopedia for all things eats, treats, and of course…real estate! Stop by and don’t forget to bring your furry family members, either. Our dog station complete with fresh water, treats and tennis balls! In need of an emergency check list during hurricane season? We have that, too!
Each month we choose a different program to sponsor and support. For the month of October, we were at the market to receive any donations in support of the Pacific Cancer Foundation, which has directly impacted the lives of some of our neighbors and friends. Throughout November and December, we will be accepting donations on behalf of the Maui Food Bank for those who are struggling to put food on the table. You can drop off non-perishable foods with them during market hours (see below) or during business hours at the Coldwell Banker Island Properties Kukui Mall office in Kihei.
We understand how impactful it is to give back to the community, which so generously gives to them in many ways. Come say aloha the next time you’re in central Kihei and if your heart desires, bring a cup of sugar with you.
