To Our Community, A Heartfelt Mahalo

by Coldwell Banker Island Properties | Aug 18, 2023 | Coldwell Banker Island Properties, Foundation

In the wake of the devastating fires on Maui that swept through our beloved Lahaina and continue to linger Upcountry, the past ten days have brought on wave after wave of emotion for our community.

While we collectively have experienced a journey through heartache and grief, we’ve also been deeply humbled and moved by the outpouring of support and unity from our neighbors, clients, and colleagues.

The generosity that has been displayed through various forms of support has been widespread and inspiring. We’ve witnessed our local community and network of REALTORS® come together in profound ways, embodying the spirit of aloha both near and far.

To all of you who have reached out with words of encouragement, empathy, and kindness, we extend our heartfelt mahalo. Your messages have been a source of comfort, reminding us that we’re not alone in this journey of healing and rebuilding.

To those who have devoted their time, energy, and resources to provide aid and relief to those impacted by the fires, we extend our sincerest gratitude. Your actions have not only helped to meet immediate needs but have also shown the power of unity in times of crisis. From distributing essential supplies to organizing fundraisers and lending a helping hand, every action taken has been a testament to the resilience and compassion that define us as a community.

We would like to recognize the quick action and organization of the REALTORS® Association of Maui and the collaboration between Hawaii’s REALTORS® Associations for their swift work in connecting displaced residents with available homes and shelter.

To those who have rallied from afar, sharing your compassion and creating a call to action through donations, thank you. Your solidarity has been a source of solace, a gentle reminder that we are not alone in our grief and recovery efforts.

Over $1.5 million has been donated by the National Association of RELATORS® Relief Fund for disaster aid, and many real estate boards across the country have pledged their unity with generous contributions.

We also want to express our deepest empathy to our staff, agents, and clients who have faced personal loss and their own set of challenges as a result of this tragedy. Your strength and courage have been an inspiration, and we stand with you as we navigate the path to recovery together.

Throughout the past week, the Hawaiian proverb “No cliff is too tall it cannot be scaled” has served as a constant and resounding reminder of the profound impact we can have when working together to overcome even the most daunting challenges through unity and collective effort.

Mahalo nui to all for taking action and serving the community of Maui.
