Hawaii is in a tragic housing crisis. Many of those who have called Hawaii “home” for generations, including our workforce, first responders, and kupuna cannot secure suitable and affordable housing. Graduates and entire families are being forced out of the State, to live in accommodations not designed for multi-generational housing, to live in their cars, and on our streets. Job positions go unfilled.
To help address this issue, the Coldwell Banker Island Properties Foundation is proud to support PAL – Permanently Affordable Living. This Hawaii-based non-profit and the recipient of the coveted 2022 NAR Good Neighbor Award, is expanding to the Big Island and is in escrow on a 5 ½ acre property in Pepeekeo. This property will provide approximately 70 homes, from tiny to apartment to single family, and even a maternity home!
As a community, providing sustainable and permanent affordable living is critical for our longevity here in the islands. By working together now, we will be investing in a future where all will benefit greatly regardless of social class, geographic location, or background.
